Build the trip in a sensible order
Start with the parts that are least flexible or most important to your itinerary. International flights and limited-entry activities often shape the dates. Hotels and local transport can then be compared around those anchors. Leave realistic time between separately booked services.
Flights
Compare the full fare, baggage, arrival airport and onward journey. If the itinerary uses separate tickets, allow extra time and understand that one provider may not protect a missed connection caused by another.
Hotels
Check neighborhood, room occupancy, taxes, deposits and the exact cancellation deadline. Confirm late-arrival arrangements if your transport reaches the city in the evening.
Trains and local transport
Look for fixed versus flexible fares, seat reservations, ticket validation and station names. A city may have several terminals, and the cheapest departure is not always the easiest one.
Cars
Review license requirements, insurance, deposit, fuel, mileage and parking. Check whether pickup and return offices have limited hours, especially on weekends or holidays.
Tours and activities
Confirm what admission, equipment and transport are included. Save the meeting point offline and read the operator's weather and cancellation procedure.
Before you go
Reconfirm schedules, download tickets and keep provider contacts together. Local rules can change, so review current official guidance shortly before travel.
